Environmental consciousness: Being mindful of our impact on the planet

Henry Schein recognises the critical importance of responsible consumption and production. We are actively working towards minimising our environmental impact by employing smart and efficient practices throughout our operations and supply chain, much of which is illustrated by the continued efforts behind the Practice Green initiative.

Henry Schein aims to address climate risks and minimise the damage done to the planet as much as possible – and wherever possible, to help start the push in restoring our environment. Our commitment to mitigating climate change extends to the responsible use of electricity, fuel, water, and raw materials. We are currently looking for circular solutions to our operations by reducing waste, recycling materials, and embracing innovative solutions.

In line with our commitment to sustainability, we have set ambitious goals. Our environmental reporting has expanded to include additional global facilities, and we will continue to broaden our scope, encompassing distribution centres, fleet operations, and key facilities worldwide.

Social responsibility: What we’re doing to build a diverse and inclusive workplace

Henry Schein embraces and celebrates the diversity of our team members, customers, patients, shareholders, supplier partners, and the communities in which we operate. In our workplace, everyone's voice matters, and we make decisions that reflect the collective input of everyone. Business success is about valuing people, not just profits.

To foster a diverse and inclusive workplace, we have made diversity and inclusion (D&I) a strategic priority. By 2030, we are striving to achieve gender parity at senior leadership levels, ensuring equal opportunities for all.

To promote a diverse and inclusive environment, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) have been established, led by our dedicated team members. These global groups foster a sense of belonging, support personal development, and educate us about the challenges and successes of diverse communities. Our ERGs, including the Women's Leadership Network, Pride & Allies, Black Legacy Professionals, and COLEGAS, are instrumental in promoting diversity and inclusion throughout our organisation.

Healthcare equity and wellbeing

Promoting health equity, strengthening healthcare systems, and optimising healthcare delivery are issues at the very heart of Henry Schein. Not only are we doing what we can to support our team members' health and wellbeing physically, mentally, and emotionally, but we also extend our efforts to the broader community.

Quality, affordable healthcare should be accessible to all, regardless of their social or economic background, and we are dedicated to making this vision a reality.

A collaborative approach

Creating a healthier world requires collaboration. We actively engage with external partners who share our common mission, amplifying our impact through collective efforts. By aligning ourselves with like-minded business partners, we can make a meaningful difference in addressing global challenges, meeting stakeholder expectations, and helping the dental practices we serve to become more environmentally and socially conscious.

Henry Schein has also worked to foster a space where our TSMs (Team Schein Members) know that their opinions are valued and wanted.

Our commitment in action: Henry Schein Cares

Our commitment to social responsibility is exemplified through Henry Schein Cares. With a deep sense of social responsibility and guided by our own TSMs, Henry Schein Cares aims to ‘help health happen’. Through this initiative, we strive to create shared value for society and from society, for everyone.

Through Henry Schein Cares and the Henry Schein Cares Foundation, we have pledged to donate $50 million in cash and product by 2025 to advance health equity. We are proud to report that we have already made significant progress toward this goal, with over $21.5 million donated in cash and product in 2021 alone.

This achievement also exemplifies our dedication to actions as well as words, fostering trust among our stakeholders, and driving positive change in the communities we serve, reinforcing our central belief of 'doing well by doing good.'
